Hi All,
It seems that I was misinformed!!
The DDE protocol will still by supported in future Windows versions, at
least MS Windows 7. Having said that, Please keep this in mind
DDE, or Dynamic Data Exchange, is a 20-year-old protocol that Microsoft
Windows applications can use to send messages and commands to each other,
requires the two processes that are communicating via DDE be running on
the same machine.
In a distributed environment where SAS is running on a remote server
and/or you cannot save the data locally on your machine, the version of
Microsoft Excel on your local PC is inaccessible to your SAS program. The
remote SAS session might even be running on a system other than Windows,
such as UNIX/LINUX, where DDE isn't supported at all.
I would strongly encourage you to investigate using the SAS ODS Tagsets (
http://support.sas.com/rnd/base/ods/excel/index.html)
Thanks,
Ahmed
